Chinese New Year mani

HELLO! To all our Chinese readers out there, we wish you a VERY HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR!!! :D :D It's Day 2 now, I hope all of you are currently eating a lot and collecting lots of red packets and enjoying your time with family and friends (: Even for those who don't celebrate, hope you're having a good relaxing break during this public holiday (in Singapore)! :D

For my New Year mani I decided to go back to classic CNY colours - red and gold. I started out with a base of Barry M Gelly in Blood Orange. It is a very classic red creme that appeared darker on me than on my mother's fairer skin. I'm on the hunt for a brighter red but I STILL LOVE THIS. Because the formula is AMAZING!!! I really really really really love the Barry M Gelly formula. It's kind of thick but it flows on so smoothly and is so pigmented and SO SHINY!!!! This was two coats but honestly, one thick coat would have done the trick! Love love love!!!!!!

Anyway, after painting my polish, I painted down the centre of my ring finger a layer of non quick-dry top coat. Then, using a dotting tool dabbed in a bit of top coat, I picked up the circle gold flat studs and laid them down before sealing everything in with a good thick coat of Seche.

I really like this double stud design and first saw it on WAHnails, one of my FAVOURITE nail places for inspiration. I visited their salon in London and loved it! But £35 for a mani is just too much to pay D: Anyway now I have their book thanks to my friend - Sarah G., and can recreate their manis at home!!! (: (:

Then I decided to make things more oriental looking and added some nail art on my thumb. They're supposed to resemble pussywillow, but I don't really know what they look like... Hahahahaha.

The studs were from bornprettystore, a full review will be coming up soon! But use the code NTL91 for a 10% off any order! (:

Hope you liked this and leave a comment telling us what was your inspiration for your CNY mani! Did you go the traditional route with reds and oranges, or maybe something different? (:
