Hope everyone has been enjoying their Chinese New Year holidays!! Even with all the festivities, who can forget the day of loveeeeeeeee and romance! That's right, it's Valentine's Day tomorrow!! To add to the excitement, Luxola has just added an exciting new brand to it's product range! For those who haven't been following their facebook page, a premium luxury nail polish brand Covet London is now available on Luxola!!
Luxola provided us with some shades to try and we put together a pretty and girly nail art design for all you ladies to sport on your special date!!!
I started off with Darling as my base colour. Darling is a sheer "creamy peach with pink undertones". I had problems with application with this though. The formula was wayyyyy too sheer and streaky. I painted 4 coats and there was still bald patches here and there. Pity because I thought the shade was really pretty! Thankfully, I was doing nail art so I could get away with the bald spots.
The pinkish coral shade I used was Racy Lacy Bikini. This one had a super smooth and opaque formula! Looking forward to trying a full manicure with this shade!
The gorgeous red is Confidence!! The site describes it as a "true red" but I feel like it's slightly darker and vamp-ier. I did a full manicure of this polish for CNY and the formula was a breeze!! I only needed one coat for full opacity. It has a sorbet/crelly kind of finish. Very chic and sexy! HAHA.
I did the nail art mainly using a very thin nail art brush (for the stripes) and a dotting tool (for the polka dots and heart). For the roses, I just blobbed on the red polish using the nail polish brush and then used a tiny brush to paint in the highlights using Darling. (I used Essence Viva La Green for the leaves)
The loose glitter on my middle and pinky finger are from Bead Street at Cineleisure Orchard. Unfortunately, I don't they sell it anymore!! Alternatively, you could try getting the loose glitter from other nail art stores like bornprettystore.com, kkcenterhk.com or even PNC in Chinatown (they recently renovated their store so they now take up 2 units!!!).
The trick to doing nail art is going slow and having a lot of patience!! Practice makes perfect! :D
There is now a promotion for Covet London polishes on Luxola!! Buy 2 and get 1 free, while stocks last! They normally retail for $36 per bottle. Definitely on the pricier side and for those with a higher spending power. The colour range is ok, with a lot of staple nudes, pinks and reds.
Hope you have a great day spending it with that special someone!!

DeleteHello :) I'm currently in the US and I'm wondering if you know of any nail polishes/nail products/beauty products in general that I should get while I'm here? Perhaps things that I can't get back in Singapore or things that cheaper here in the US than in Singapore? Thanks so much!! :)
ReplyDeleteFor nail polishes I think Revlons are pretty cheap there!! You can also get Sinful Colours, Kleancolor, butter london, american apparel and urban outfitters polishes! I think you can get Illamasqua from the Sephoras in US!! Sorry not really sure! Hope this was of some help :)
DeleteHello! Thank you for your review on CovetLondon, digging your lovely nail art creation :)
ReplyDeleteDarling is supposed to be cream/sheer, often worn as a coat to colour-correct yellow nails.
We're glad to hear that you like our advanced intense formula in Racy Lacy Bikini and Confidence, would love to see the full-mani you're planning ;) keep the pictures coming!
XO, the Covet Crew
